

Mr. Henry's practice focuses on serving the needs of transportation clients, freight forwarders, and brokers in transportation and agency contracts, transportation regulatory matters, insurance, and business transactions.

Robert J. Henry has practiced in the transportation industry for 28 years, with a background in transactions ranging from transportation contracts to acquisitions (as buyer and seller) and experience including antitrust, securities, secured lending/UCC, bankruptcy, and a variety of other areas of legal practice. Before joining the firm, he was vice president and associate general counsel of SIRVA, Inc. following the combination in 1999 of Allied Van Lines and North American Van Lines. Prior to that time, he had been employed by Allied Van Lines, serving eleven years as its vice president and general counsel. Mr. Henry's role included counseling the van line activities of the Allied, North American, and Global Van Lines household goods moving businesses in the U.S. and Canada, their international moving networks, and SIRVA's insurance business. From 1996 to 1999 he also served as general counsel to NFC-USA, which included Allied Van Lines, Exel Logistics and Merchants Home Delivery Systems, all of which were subsidiaries of U.K.-based NFC.

Admitted to the Illinois bar in 1975, Mr. Henry graduated from Loyola University of Chicago (B.A. cum laude and J.D. cum laude).

Mr. Henry is licensed to practice before all Illinois state courts and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois. He is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and was chair of the Law Forum of the American Moving and Storage Association in 2003 and 2004. In 2000, he served as chair of the Legislative Committee of the Naperville (Illinois) Area Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Chamber Board from 2001 through 2004.
