Detail-oriented and responsive to client needs, Michael provides strategic defenses and advice for self-insured employers facing workers’ compensation claims.
Profile
Michael provides counsel on high-value workers’ compensation cases involving complex facts and legal issues. He frequently assists with the investigation, prepares case analyses for clients – outlining current and potential workers’ compensation exposures and defenses – and assists the team in managing the direction of the litigation. Michael drafts global settlement agreements to help clients proactively avoid potential claims not covered in the Workers’ Compensation Act. In addition, he assists clients through subrogation opportunities to recover benefits paid.
Michael regularly works with administrative law judges at the Wisconsin Worker’s Compensation Division, informally and at hearings and mediations, to facilitate efficient and cost-effective disposition of cases, predominantly through negotiated compromise agreements. His experience includes significant appellate litigation before the Labor & Industry Review Commission, Circuit Court and Court of Appeals
