Mr. Garvin’s law practice focuses on the area of transportation law generally, including mergers, acquisitions, independent contractor issues, contract preparation and review, freight claims, sales tax, fuel taxes, hazardous materials, customs regulations, licensing, permitting, international transportation issues, restructuring of motor carrier fleets, and general corporate matters.
Norm R. Garvin is one of the founding partners of Scopelitis, Garvin, Light, Hanson & Feary. Over the past 25 years, Mr. Garvin has acted on behalf of a wide range of U.S. and Canadian truck, bus, and warehousing companies; freight forwarders, customs brokers, shippers, transportation brokers, and logistics and intermodal companies. He has regularly represented such clients before the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation, Indiana Department of Revenue, U.S. Customs, Internal Revenue Service, Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Maritime Commission and various provincial, state, and federal commissions and agencies in the U.S. and Canada.
