Scopelitis Partner John Greene Named TXTA’s 2018 Leader of the Year
TXTA announced John Greene as their 2018 Leader of the Year. The prestigious designation first began in 1969 with honoring Stoney Stubbs and has selected a deserving TXTA member every single year since John Draper in 1988.
"I was truly shocked to receive the call," said Greene. "I am just really speechless, it's such a tremendous honor."
Greene was one of the few non-carrier members to serve on the TXTA Executive Committee and his contributions to the association were so great, it lead to the creation of the TXTA Ad Hoc Committee of General Counsels that serve as legal advisors to TXTA leadership. Greene serves as it's chair and continues to serve on the TXTA Executive Committee.
"John's contributions to the association are so much more than the membership will ever know, he has given direct guidance, wrote amicus briefs on behalf of the association and even rewrote by-laws that were first crafted in the late 1970s by a young then future Lt Governor of the State of Texas, the late Bob Bullock," said TXTA President John D. Esparza
In the mid 2000s, Greene led the effort for TXTA in its battle against the city of Lancaster who was challenging accessibility for trucking in the city. Greene is the managing partner of the DFW office of Scopelitis, Garvis Light, Hanson & Feary. He is a TXTA Foundation Trustee and Chairman of the TXTA Education Committee. A Baylor University graduate, Greene also received his MA at the University of Virginia and his JD from the SMU School of Law. He is board certified in both Personal Injury Trail Law and Civil Trail Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. TXTA will honor Greene at its Annual Conference in San Antonio on Friday, July 27 at La Cantera Hill Country Resort.
